GERALD TAKASE Photo of Gerald Takase

GERALD TAKASE is the supervisor of the Counseling and Drafting Division of the Corporation Counsel for the County of Hawai‘i.

He graduated from Hilo High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Willamette University where he was a member of the golf and wrestling teams. He also was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Mr. Takase received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Hawai‘i, William S. Richardson School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in Hawai‘i and is also admitted to appear before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Hawai‘i, the Court of Military Appeals and the Army Court of Review.

He previously worked for the Law Offices of William Rosdil and was a deputy prosecuting attorney with the County of Hawai‘i. Mr. Takase is currently a Staff Judge Advocate, Lieutenant Colonel with the Hawaii Army National Guard. He has been an active member of the Hawaii State Bar Association and is a former Young Lawyers Division Director.

Mr. Takase currently serves as the Staff Judge Advocate for the Hawai‘i Army National Guard.  He is an active member of the Hawai‘i State Bar Association, serving as President of the Government Lawyers’ Section, a former Young Lawyers Division Director, and currently serves as the Treasurer of the Hawai‘i County Bar Association.  He is President of Na Leo Public Access Television Board, a director of Big Island Junior Golf, a director for the Hawai‘i Federal and State Federal Credit Union, a past vice-president and director of the Lehua Jaycees, and a past president of the Hilo High School Alumni Association.  Mr. Takase is also a volunteer with the Volunteer Legal Services Neighborhood Legal Clinics and the Divorce Clinic.
