Donald Ikeda About Donald

My parents were Shiro and Fujiko Ikeda.  They were born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii.  They were business people who ran multiple businesses in Hilo: Ikeda Shoyu, S. Ikeda Factory Ltd. (which manufactured soft drinks - 7-Up and Sunbrite beverages), and Hilo Macaroni Factory Ltd.   They were very community minded and active participants in the Waiakea Lions, Waiakea Pirates, and the University Extension.

After graduating from college, I worked for a few years in California before returning home to Hilo.  Here I have followed in my parent's footsteps by being involved in the community.

I served as President of the Kaumana PTA, Treasurer of the Hilo Intermediate School PTSA, Officer of the Hilo Jaycees, Board Member of the American Red Cross, President of the Kaumana 3½ mile Kumiai, member of the Waiakea Pirates, Hui Okinawa Club, Higashi Hongwanji, and Puna Hongwanji.

My wife, Florence Okamura Ikeda, and I have three daughters and four grandchildren.
