Hawai'i County Code

Updated to include: Supplement 8 (7-2009)
and subsequent ordinances effective through 07-31-09

Official Version
The Hawai'i County Code was republished in June of 2005. The official version of this updated Code consists of a three volume print edition. Ordinances enacted and effective subsequent to this 2005 update will be incorporated into the Code by means of semiannual cumulative supplements that will be released in January and July of each year.

When referring to the Hawai'i County Code, references should be made to the official print version. This official print version may be cited as, "Hawai'i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended)." See the Preface to the 2005 Edition for more information about the official edition.

The Code and semiannual supplements may be purchased from the Hawai'i County Clerk's Office using the order form available on this website. Individual chapters may also be purchased by contacting the County Clerk's Office directly.

Unofficial Version
This website contains an unofficial online version of the Hawai'i County Code and related documents. In addition to text contained in the official print version, it may also contain ordinances approved subsequent to the last semiannual print supplement to the Code. (Please see the Preface to the Code for an explanation of which ordinances are codified.) Consequently, the format, pagination, and content of this online version of the Code may vary significantly from the official print version of the Code currently in use, as well as the version that will be adopted in the next semiannual supplement. Tables
This website contains a "Table of Sections Affected " that indicates which sections of the Code have been affected by ordinances passed since release of the most recent semiannual supplement.

The online version of the Code and these tables will be updated from time to time after new ordinances become effective. As delays in updating this website may occur, if knowledge of the most current state of the law is essential, please contact the County Clerk's Office to verify the current state of the law.
