Susan Gagorik is a long-range planner and has been employed by the County of Hawaii Planning Department for fifteen years. Although originally from Oahu, the Island of Hawaii is now home. Being involved in the EnVision Downtown Hilo 2025 Visioning process has been one of the most inspiring and life-changing events for Susan. In her spare time, she enjoys promoting aromatherapy products and discovering the best health products on the market. In her next life, she hopes to pursue a career in Financial Planning to help families plan for their future and achieve their dreams. She lives in Volcano with her husband, two children and two dogs - Hero and Cookie.
Marlene Murray is the Recorder for the EDH 2025 VisionKeepers. Born and raised in Hilo, Marlene worked for several years in the travel industry in Honolulu. After moving back to Hilo in 1992, she worked as the Administrative Assistant for Destination Hilo for five years. Marlene was the Recorder for the Friends of Downtown Hilo Steering Committee during the Visioning Phase of the Plan. She found the process so inspiring, she feels privileged to be able to also serve as the Recorder for the Implementation Phase.
Kylie Alexandra began her position as part-time Community Planning Assistant for EnVision Downtown Hilo 2025 in May 2007. Originally from Australia, Kylie lived in Victoria B.C. and Olympia WA, and traveled extensively overseas. For over two years she has lived in Hilo with her husband, Michael, and cat, Asher. Kylie loves the Big Island and especially Hilo. She lives within walking distance to Downtown Hilo and attends UH Hilo as a full-time Sociology BA student. In her spare time, she enjoys being surrounded by the incredible natural scenery of the Big Island. She is excited to be part of EDH 2025 to help preserve the unique character of Downtown Hilo, which will ensure Hawai`i's keiki have a town they can continue to be proud of.
Sudha Achar has been with the VisionKeepers since their inception in 2005 committed to nurture the progress of Hilo Downtown. She is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the East Hawai`i Cultural Council and also owns the Sudha's Art Gallery and Books. Through the EHCC, Sudha has worked on the Hilo Mural Project with various State officials and the Hawai`i Consortium for the Arts to formulate policy and make program recommendations to the legislature. She is particularly interested in the EDH2025 Plan's to promote Hilo as a center for culture and the arts, to continue downtown beautification efforts, and to grow a dynamic and vital local business base. A physician, Sudha is also an artist whose paintings, sculpture and ceramic work can be seen in galleries and public and private collections in Hawaii and the mainland.
Kaholo Daguman is the Literacy and Testing Coordinator at Connections Public Charter School located in downtown Hilo at the historic Kress building. Born and raised on O'ahu, Kaholo has been a resident of the Big Island for thirty-three years. He now lives in the North Hilo district. Previously, Kaholo served on the East Hawaii Cultural Arts Council. He also served as a facilitator for Focus Groups in creating the EnVision Downtown Hilo Living Action Plan and became one of the first VisionKeepers in 2005. He recently served as chairperson for Downtown Improvement Association's Beautification Committee. He cares about making downtown safe and green.
Eileen brings her multifaceted experiences in planning, business, and education to the VisionKeepers group. She has been a resident of Hawai`i for twenty-seven years, and has been a VisionKeeper since its inception in 2005. Eileen currently also serves on the Governor's Environmental Council, and has previously served on the Farm Supply Cooperative Board, the Wa`a Wa`a Neighborhood Watch, the Pakaka Road Association, the HELCO IRP Advisory Board, the Hawai`i Organic Farmers Association, and the Big Island Sustainable Community Association. With a doctorate in natural resource economics, Eileen is particularly focused on waste management practices and space/ resource allocation within downtown Hilo. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, tai chi, yoga, and dog agility training. She currently lives in lower coastal Puna with her two terriers JR-Chi and Ku`u Maka.
