Biographies

Terri Markovich was born and raised in Southern California where she began a passion for riding, caring for horses and open spaces. Eventually she traveled to Hawaii in 1973, to the island of Kauai where a love of Hawaii began. She also experienced living on Maui where she developed a sewing business, moved back to Kauai in 1980, adding upholstery and home fashion to her service. She purchased land in Ahualoa, Hawaii in 1983, and in 1990 moved from Kauai, and built a home. Since owning a piece of this beautiful land she has been active in promoting an island preserving lifestyle, beginning with propagating and reforestation of native trees and fauna. The solid waste problem has brought her to work with Recycle Hawaii encouraging, reducing, reusing and recycling of our unwanted materials. Still active in riding and caring for horses, the desire for open and accessible spaces is a big concern of hers for a healthy island lifestyle.

He has also worked with the State to get nearly 2 miles of the Ka`u coast at Waiohinu, a natural resource and culturally rich area, protected in State "forest reserve" status. Bill was awarded a lifetime achievement award by the Conservation Council for Hawaii in 2007.
