The Parkway - Kailua to Keauhou
The Alii Highway (a.k.a. Kahului-Keauhou Parkway) (hereinafter referred to as the "Parkway") is a proposed 4.5-miles, 2-lane road, with bike and pedestrian paths, between Alii Drive and Kuakini Highway from the vicinity of Hualalai Road (north) to Keauhou (south.)
Proposed Parkway
Layout
- two 12-foot wide lanes, one lane in each direction
- two 6-foot wide paved (bike) shoulders
- two 12-foot wide unpaved shoulders
- two 8-foot wide drainage swales
- two 6-foot paved multi-purpose paths
- two 6-foot landscaping areas
(All within a 100-foot right-of-way)
While the Parkway will be a limited access road, there are several intersections approved in the alignment:
Signalized, Channelized Intersections
(Signals to be installed/activated when "warranted.")
- Queen Kaahumanu Highway (north end)
- Kuakini Highway
- La'aloa Street
- Makolea Street
- Alii Drive-Keauhou (south end)
Roundabouts
- Royal Poinciana Drive
- Lako Street
- Alii Lani Street
The construction is proposed in two phases, with the approximate 2 ½-mile south section of the road (from Lako Street extension to Keauhou) to be constructed first.
